Santos T. Hinojosa was called home to our Lord at the age of 62 on Friday, March 8, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 28, 1956 in Mathis, Texas, the daughter of Manuel and Margarita Trevino who raised her in Mathis, Texas. On June 6, 1981 she married Genaro Hinojosa Jr. in Mathis, Texas where they raised 3 loving children.
Santos, to all who knew her, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother. She took great pride in being a nurse in the Labor and Delivery ward bringing in new life with every birth. Later after her retirement of after over 30 years in Alice, she continued nursing at the Palma Real Nursing Center. She was always loved by her peers and made the long nights go by fast. Santos was always helping others with welcoming arms and a warm meal.
Santos will always be remembered by her gracious smile, and addictive laugh. Santos was strong willed through her convictions in life and never wavered. Until her last days she was wholeheartedly supported by her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her late husband Roberto E. Fonseca, Brothers Samuel Trevino and Epifanio Villarreal and her parents.
Surviving by her husband Genaro Hinojosa Jr and her three children, Bobby (Ria) Fonseca, Gary (Ashely) Hinojosa, Sandra (Giovanni) Hinojosa and seven brothers and sisters, Cayetano (Rosa) Trevino, Roberto Trevino, Irene (Fidel) Garcia, Greg (Celeste) Trevino, Dolly (Martin) Acosta, Sylvia Herrera, Mary Alice (Larry) Moore; 6 grandchildren and her best friend “Cowboy”.
Visitation will be held from 5:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. on Sunday, March 10th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mathis Texas. With a rosary recited there that evening at 7:00p.m.
Her body lay in repose at 9 a.m. Monday, March 11, at the church. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. with Father Tom Goodwin officiating.
Interment will follow at Waldheim Cemetery in Tynan.
Pallbearers: Martin Acosta, Joseph Hinojosa, Fidel Garcia, Larry Moore, Jo Daniel Hinojosa and Isreal Cavazos.
