Pedro Davila Ayala age 85 of Mathis passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in Sandia. Mr. Ayala was born Laguna Seca on April 29, 1932 to Simon & Apolinar (Davila) Gomez. He was united in matrimony to the former Manuela Pena on February 3, 1963 at Sacred Heart Church in Mathis, and was a retired mechanic. He was also a member of the Calvary Mennonite Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Diego Ayala, Julio Ayala, Jose Gomez, one sister; Maria Flores, and other family members. Survivors include his wife Manuela Ayala of Mathis, five sons; Felix (Isidra) Ayala, Remigio Ayala, David (Irma) Ayala, Ricardo Ayala, Marcus Ayala all of Mathis, three daughters; Janie (Ramiro) Barajas of Sandia, Esmeralda Rodriguez of Mathis, Belen (Bobby) Woodall of Sandia, four brothers; Pancho (Angelita) Gomez of San Patricio, Simon (Louise) Gomez of Colorado Springs, CO, Marcos D. Gomez of Princeton, TX, Severo (Theodora) Gomez of Mathis, 23 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, 3 sister - in - laws; Maria Gomez of Princeton, TX, Carolina Ayala of Edinburg, Herminia Ayala of California, and a host of other relatives and friends.

 

Visitation will be held the VFW Hall in Mathis on Thursday, October 26th from 10:00a.m. – 9:00p.m. with a prayer service being held at 7:00p.m. Funeral services will also be at the V.F.W. Hall on Friday, October 27th at 10:00a.m. with Pastor Juan Manuel Rivera, officiating. Interment will follow at Descanso Eterno # 2 Cemetery.

 

Active Pallbearers: Ramiro Barajas, Sr., Ramiro Barajas, Jr., Rene Barajas, Raymond Barajas, Christopher Rodriguez, Damian Hernandez, Remigio Ayala, Gabriel Ruiz, and Bobby Woodall.
