Herminia ( Minnie ) S. MartinezAugust 24, 1934 ~ November 30, 2017 (age 83)
Herminia “Minnie” Martinez was called home on November 30, 2017 after a short but courageous fight against cancer. She lost the battle but won the war as she now rejoices in Paradise. She was born in George West, Texas on August 24, 1934 to Maria Samudia and Ismael Saldivar Sr. She married Enrique G. “Kike” Martinez Jr. on May 4, 1957 in Beeville. She was a homemaker and very active in her church, St Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a devoted member of the Divine Mercy Prayer group.
Welcoming her to Paradise were her parents, husband and sisters, Anita S. Cuellar and Delia Manrique, and brothers, Ruben Saldivar and Ismael Saldivar Jr.
She will be forever missed by her sons, John (Dee) Martinez and Henry (Debi) Martinez III, and her daughter, Mary Cecilia (Ben) Wilson; her grandchildren, who she loved without measure, John Matthew Carver, Kelly Carver, Stevie Ray Martinez, Dillon James Martinez, Ryan Henry Rendon and Alyssa Wilson.
Also surviving her are her brothers, Julian, Pete, and Rudolph Saldivar; and her sisters, Dora Martinez, and Mary Sanchez. She will also be greatly missed by her lifetime best friend, Mary Olivares, who never left her side.
A rosary will be recited at Trevino Funeral Home on Sunday December 3, 2017 at 7:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday December 4, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic church at 10:00am with Fr. Richard Gonzales officiating. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Victory cemetery #2
Pallbearers: Omar Cano, Jimmy Saldivar and her four grandsons, John, Stevie, Dillon, and Ryan.
Minnie was a woman of strong faith and never stopped believing in her savior, our Lord Jesus Christ and we know we will see her again.
